The Stupidity of the GOP Base

Sure, I'm pissing off half the field with that title, but I'm done being nice about this.  (Not that I ever was.)  Because as much of a game of "Us vs Them" politics is, common sense should have to kick in at some point.

Not for the Republican base.

So 45's lawyer, Michael Cohen has pled guilty to tax fraud, lying to banks, campaign finance violations, and best of all, making hush money payments to the parade of women that President Micropenis slept with.  According to the linked CNN article,

Cohen admitted that "in coordination and at the direction of a candidate for federal office," he kept information that would have harmed Trump from becoming public during the 2016 election cycle.

Oops.

Meanwhile, Paul Manafort was found guilty of 8 counts of tax fraud, hiding bank accounts, and bank fraud.  Gee, 45 really hires the best people, doesn't he?

So, his campaign chairman is going to jail.  His lawyer is going to jail.  But you guys really think that Donnie Dorko is clean?  The guy who admits to grabbing women against their will because he's too stupid to understand how bad it looks to say that, is somehow smart enough to keep clean when everyone around him is corrupt?  Hell, even the Trump camp has changed their story about the infamous Trump Tower meeting so many times that I can't even keep them straight.

This reminds me of Lance Armstrong.  In cycling, a sport notorious around the world for doping and PED use, the one guy who was clean was the one guy no one else in the world could touch.  In a sport full of cheaters, the only guy who wasn't cheating was consistently winning.  Well, we all saw how that turned out, didn't we.

But this isn't even the part that blows my mind.  GOP voters being a low-information crowd isn't a new development.  The part that has me gassing up the ShortBus for a busy day is the gang that still chants "Lock her up!" at the mere mention of Hillary Clinton's name.  Trumpilstitzkin held another one of his suck-my-dick rallies in West Virgina on Tuesday -- possibly while both Manafort and Cohen were getting fitted for jumpsuits -- and such a chant broke out.  I'll take Irony for $1,600, Alex.

Yep.  Crooked Hillary.  Used the wrong e-mail server -- TREASON!!!  Everyone's favorite GOP savior is having the finger pointed at him IN COURT, by his own lawyer, and there's still nothing wrong.  It's OK -- I'm going to enjoy the schadenfreude when it all comes tumbling down.

Nero played the fiddle while Rome burned.  That was bad enough.  If you're still sticking by Trump during all of this, you are the fiddle.
